This work can be understood on different levels. There is the breaking of a relationship, of people breaking each other. There is the notion that we are all made of many pieces, many facets of our personality and how that influences the people around us. We take on some of their traits or ideas and vice versa. Is it one person becoming whole or separating? Is it one person accepting all of their facets, both the masculine and the feminine? Mosaics and stained glass windows have always fascinated me. The interplay between the shards to create something new, the shuffling of parts to fit into the box of society’s expectations.
